UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I have written a script to ftp a file from Unix to an NT machine to authenticate ftp login I have added the information into the .netrc file when logged in using ftp the commands are not executed. Does anybody know how to make the command execute once username and password have been provided using ftp.

ex.

cd /Interface
ftp 192.168.**.***
(logs on using .netrc file)
prompt -(Command not executing)
mput Test* -(Command not executing)
y -(Command not executing)
bye

Here's something to try... This is executed on a Dynix/ptx 4.4.8 OS.

ftp -v 192.168.xxx.xxx <<EOF
(login in using .netrc)
prompt
mput Test*
EOF

You can also turn off interactive prompting by specifiying the "-i" option in the initial ftp command.
