What prot is a process listening on?


Bit of a newbie question . . .

How can I detrimine what TCP port a particular process is listening on?

if you have lsof installed and you know the port: lsof -itcp:#numport
or just: lsof | grep process_name | grep TCP

Thanks for the pointer I'll have a look at lsof . . .

However I think it is the other way around !! I have a problem with a user saying they have a particular process installed but it is not listening on the port it should so I want to find what it is listening on. . . . .

port not listening..

Hi.. I am using HPux11.0 i want to know if server not listening to a tcp port what should we do to resolve the problem.... in /etc/services tcp port 7108/tcp is mentioned for some perticular application.. while starting that application error is coming could not establish listening address...
