Data nano-2.0.6 HELP!!!!

Hi all,
I have this problem. I am running suse linux 10.0 Enterprise.
I was able to install nano-2.0.6 and as root I am able to use it.

This is where my problem starts.
When I exit root and try to use nano, I get this error message.

nano: Command not found.
but when I type /usr/local/bin/./nano I am able to use it.

and since I am using tcsh shell I made a file called .cshrc and added the following:

setenv EDITOR/usr/local/bin/./nano ( which didn't work )
then I tried this also
setenv EDITOR/usr/local/bin/nano (which also didn't work)

can someone out there help this NEWBIE!!!!!

thanks

copy" the nano executable to other location ? like "cp /path/to/nano /the-new/path/nano" && chown user:group /the-new/path/nano.
"ln -s" , i.e. symlink them ? I'm not aware of the way tcsh works, but EDITOR may not be accepted, why not add the nano path in your $PATH ?

Hi sysgate,
Thanks for reply.
this real issue is that I need to run nano like so /usr/local/bin/./nano
I just can't run nano by just typing nano OR /usr/local/bin/nano. So by setting the path it wouldn't make a differents.

the group and owner is so

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 347904 2007-10-15 23:12 nano

did I install nano wrong?

Thanks...

Where did you get nano from and how did you install it.

It all sounds highly screwed up

Write a shell script as "/usr/bin/nano"

Code:
#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/local/bin/./nano $@

Quote:
setenv EDITOR/usr/local/bin/./nano
Would you not need a space after "EDITOR"? And did you export it?
