file unchanged error
Hi,

I am trying to compress a file using the following command:
compress user_list

But i am getting the following error.
user_list: -- file unchanged

Please note that file is not empty

This is a diagnostic message which has appeared probably because the compress utility could not reduce the file.
From the man page:
Code:
- - file unchanged
           No savings are  achieved  by  compression.  The  input
           remains uncompressed.
