What type of error are you getting?
here is an example of how I do it
Code:
ftp -in some ip <<End-Of-Session
user user-login password
type binary
get some-file
bye
End-Of-Session
exit 0

The login and password are on the same line. I also do not use prompt.

Hi Namishiri,

What type of error you are getting when you compiled the script.

Let me see for sample script for ftp the file from remove server.

#!/usr/bin/ksh
Host_name="some ip"
USER_ID="user_name"
PWD="password"

echo "Host Name is : $Host_name"
echo "User_id is : $User_id"
echo "Password is : $Pwd"

ftp -n <$Host_name> <<End-Of-Session
user $USER_ID $PWD
type binary
get some-file
bye
End-Of-Session
exit;

if [ $? -eq 0 ] then
echo "Successfully FTP'ed the file from remote server..."
else
echo "Error has occured while FTP'ing the file from remote server"
fi

echo "End of the script..."

if you want debug you script you have add the "Set -x" line begin of the shell script.

Let me know if you get any error.

Continue ....

We don't need to use the "prompt" command if we want download and get the single file from remote server.
if you want get the more than one file from remote server and you want to avoid the confirmation question for each and every file getting download then you can use the "Probpt" keyword in you shell script.
