Connecting to SUN server from PC

I have old SUN server on my desk. I know it worked before. I want to be able to connect to server from my PC. Just to establish a dump terminal.

1. I connected to power socket
2. I Have a cable that fits in (i believe is a com ports there are A B slots the same I plugged it in A). They are looking like this

.....xxxxxxxx where x are pins
On The other side
oooo
ooooo Where o are wholes

3. The other side of the cable I connected to my PC - com port

4. What shell I do now ...

use a terminal software like teraterm and use the settings 9600 baud, no parity, 8 bits and 1 stop bit.

set the bud rate to 9600, no parity , databit 8, flowcontrole none. do all those on your hyperterminal setting of your window machine.
then issue the command 'tip hardwire' (without the quote pls).
This should take you inside the sun system.

I got connected.
Now where should I type - tip hardwire.
I am not able to use keyboards while in hyperterminal window

Sorry guys I think got all wrong. I don't think it's connected though bottom panel show | connect |VT100|9600 8-N-1
I switched off SUN and it's still connected.
Don't be angry after all I am using Unix for Dummies section .... Smilie

Be prepared to fiddle with the settings and rebooting the SUN box.

Also try a "null modem" to swap the TX and RX wires.

"tip" only works on solaris boxes. it's a terminal software... you need hyperterm or teraterm for your pc (windows?).
