UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Can somebody help me understand this ourput from the vxsystem command, i basically want to know the interpretation of the ty column and what do each of them mean.
I tried reading the man but didn't get anywhere.

The TY column is the record type column and the codes mean

dg - disk group
dm - disk media
v - volume
pl - plex
sd - subdisk


Disks (dm) must be added to a disk group (dg) under Veritas. A volume contains one or more plexes which in turn contain one or more subdisks. If you have the path to Volume Manager man pages in your MANPATH, see
