ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors

Hello!

I have some problems installing a program called “Jail Chroot Project”.

http://www.gsyc.inf.uc3m.es/~assman/jail/index.html

I have only installed precompiled programs before and I get some kind of error message when im trying to compile this program.

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of gcc but I have not managed to the /usr/local/bin folder into the system path for the root user.

I have printed out the log from my installation. I hope someone can help me.

# pwd
/home/anwi/jail_1-9_stable/src
# /usr/ccs/bin/make
/usr/local/bin/gcc -Wall -g -D__SOLARIS__ -DDEBUG=0 -I . jail.c -o jail generic_hel
cp jail ../bin
Undefined first referenced
symbol in file
major terminal_helpers.o
minor terminal_helpers.o
makedev generic_helpers.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to jail
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `jail'
#

Grateful for any help!

Anders

You are missing C library files/archives or they are located in a path not known by your linker.

I kind of figured that out. What I haven't figured out is how to solve this.

I used a precompiled version of gcc so there should not be any files missing (I hope)

Its installed in /usr/local but I don't know what directories to add to the path and how.

I want the root user and all other users to be able to use gcc
