Installing Dual Boot Xp is in first want Solaris

I'm looking to add a 2nd hard drive to my computer and make one hard drive Solaris and keep the 2nd as my origional Xp home edition. To basically keep them seperated in what they do. Now saying I have the hard drive in installed and everything and it's blank. I work for Sun Microsystems so i know how to cd install Solaris it's just I've never done a dual boot. If I install it on the 2nd hard drive what would happen would it auto boot into solaris or auto boot into XP or does anyone know a way that would give me a prompt (or does it do it auto does it like detect there's 2 os's?) when I'm booting the machine that will allow me to choose? If so could someone explain how to do it and where to put it (basically everything about it). If someone could help me out if they know how that would be extremly helpfull..

Thanks in advance
~Eric

theres a couple of different ways

I'm almost certain that you could set up your boot.ini to take care of that for you (assuming it was carried over from Windows 2000...haven't looked into XP much), but your XP drive would have to be the first one in line to boot.

Also, check out this website http://math.uwb.edu.pl/~mariusz/dualboot/index.html for info on dual-booting Solaris with Windows NT...it should be pretty close to what you want to do.

There are also programs that you can set up to load before any of your OSes that will manage your booting, partitions, etc for you. I believe one of the better ones is called System Commander...you might try looking it up online, or checking eBay for a copy (usually around $25).

Good luck!

This one is better than the last one I posted, as it involves multiple drives.
