PCMCIA/Memory Hardware Problem

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 that I am using to run Redhat Linux 7.1.
This machine had 128Mb of RAM in it, and I upgraded to 512Mb.

Since this, the PCMCIA cards have disappeared from the system running under Linux, although they still work under windows and the file "/var/lib/pcmcia/stab" only contains:
Code:
Socket 0: Empty
Socket 1: Empty

but another machine we have with the same cards shows:
Code:
Socket 0: 3Com 3CCFE575CT/3CXFE575CT Fast EtherLink XL
0 network 3c59x 0 3c59x
Socket 1: Serial or Modem
1 serial serial_cs 0 ttyS1 4 65

If we take the memory out and use anything less than 512Mb the cards will work again, but not when 512Mb is installed, despite the fact that the BIOS and motherboard of this computer is supposed to handle this amount.

Is there any special method to allow this to work with 512Mb, without having to reinstall?

Found the problem!

Apparently, under Redhat 7.1 there is a bug in the kernel.
