dual boot windows 2000 and solaris 8

Hello

I recently purchased solaris 8 and I want to dual boot with
windows 2000.
What is the easiest way to install the solaris OS with the
existing windows 2000?

Lightbulb win 2000 and solaris 8 dual boot

it would be eaiest to ghost win 2000 onto either another harddrive and install solaris 8 1st then reload win2000, or you can copy all important files to cd or disk then flatten your system adn then when installing solaris 8 setup your partitions to allow dual boot. or you could just get another hard drive and dual boot off of two hard drives.-vassago

Mogdog - One hard drive will serve you fine - In fact I have Windows 2K AS - Solaris 8 - Red Hat - FreeBSD all on a 20 GB HD.

Simply install Windows 2k first then install Solaris and when you get to the partition screan you will notice that the NTFS or FAT that you allocated for Win 2k will be shown. Simply go to the column underneath this information which will show the remaining space available on the HD and edit the value if you want to install aditional OS later (if this is the case simply allocate space select an option and go to the next column -well its a bit more to it but that isnt the scope of your question) or leave the value alone. Once you've done that simply move on and your set - questions - hit me with an email.
