/tmp directory gets to 100%

Eventhough there is no visible feed to the /tmp dir, when I shut my apps engine it gets down to 4%. Upon restarting my engine, give it about 10-15 minutes and the /tmp gets to a 100% again.
My engine is running on AIX 4.3. Engines job is to process metapp (metacode to PDF) completed files and then transfer them along with their respective Index values into Ora tables.

Obviously, your "Engine" make extensive use
of /tmp.

You have at least 2 options...

1. change the file system you use for temporary
work files to a larger one.

2. increase the size of /tmp.

On AIX, option 2 is quite simple. Use SMIT
to increase the size. In smit go to...

Add/Change/Show/Delete file systems
Journaled File Systems
Change/Show Characteristics of a Journaled File System

...then just fill in /tmp under file system name
and hit enter. The current info will be displayed.
You can then increas the size (assuming you have
physical disk space left).

There's also a "smitty" shortcut to get there
but I can't recall exact command line.

Thank you for your detailed input. Shall monitor the engine once /tmp size has increased.
