need unix to unix file transfer

I am setting up a cron to do a daily transfer of some files from one unix server to another unix server. It seems that there are a few ways to go about this (kermit, scp, etc). What is the best way to transfere large files quickly between unix machines? Thanks.

If it's big files, then the network connection will make a bigger difference than what protocol you use unless the protocol's really bad. I wouldn't reccomend kermit. Smilie For lots of little files, the protocol becomes more important.

It will most likely be lots of files, both little and small.

We do this via FTP since the transfer happens from one machine on our LAN to another.
