Regarding Cron job,
i want to execute a scriptevery 4 days once irrespective of a week or a month.
Is it possible?Any help

I would suggest accessing cron with the at(1) utility rather than a complex crontab. At the top of your script, simply add a call to at(1) four days from now. Regardless of your script's exit code, the script will run again in exactly four days.

Here is a simple example (using Korn).

Code:

#!/bin/ksh

    at -k -f "$0" now + 4 days

    /bin/ls  # whatever commands 

    exit $?

You then jumpstart the process with an appopriate time. Let's say it's noon and you want to start the process tonight at 8:00pm.

Code:

at -k -f "/your/script/here" now + 8 hours
