how can perform zip or unzip at unix console
how can perfrom zip or unzip for bulk of files at unix console
can anybody tell that command

I assume gunzip *.zip (or *.Z) is not working?

man gunzip and man unzip.

Code:
for file in *;zip ; do
    unzip $file
done

and modify as appropriate when you want to zip files.

Hi, I need to zip/compress a data file and send to a vendor. The vendor does have only unzip utility and can accept only .ZIP files. I do not have zip utility in my server. I have a .zip file of size 17GB on Linux. As per my knowledge unzip(before 6.X version) doesn't work with file size greater than 4GB. I tried my best to uncompress it but didn't successed.
