Question Segment and join tar archive
I have a huge folder that I need to down load.

I have compressed it into a tar archive (+7 gb). I now need to split the archive into segments of 100 mb.

I have found that I can make the spril using:
split -b 100m hugearchive.tar

This will create a ton of segments that I can easily move one by one (download with ftp or move to another server via ssh)

But how do I join the segments into a working tar archive again?

use cat part* > filename
Normally in Unix u can join files by cat .

keep all parts of file in one directory and after splitting ur file parts name will be like xaa,xab,xac etc if u have not used any specific file name

cat x* > filename

it will create file in the same directory and u have to delete ur file parts , make sure that u have suffiecient space in file system
