zip and email a file
I am trying to zip and email a .csv file from my unix box to myself and I get corrupt file.

I have used the gzip to zip the file and I am using Winzip to try to unzip it. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Should I be using the zip command?

It may be in how you are emailing it - search these forums for uuencode and/or attachment - there are many examples of how to do this.

Try 'compress' command in the unix box ...
while ftping to windows ... make sure 'binary' mode is set.

Don't forget to checkout mutt...no uuencode required Smilie

once you compress your .csv file, perform the following to send:

mutt -a file.csv.Z -s "subject" user@emailADDY.com user2@emailADDY.com < /dev/null

the above will NOT provide for any mail-body (perform a man or search for more info).

Simply use zip command to zip your files and uuencode them to send as attachement with an email..
