Question Installing Netscape onto Solaris OS

Hi everyone,

I am trying to install Netscape onto my Solaris OS, the Netscape installation istruction (after extraction), by default, puts the application onto a particular directory, /opt. The instruction is:

# pkgadd -d `pwd` NSCPcom

I have found another directory which has more disk space I would like to install Netscapte and tried something like

# pkgadd -d `pwd` NSCPcom /home/

but the installation failed with an error "pkgadd ERROR: no packages associated with </home/>

Any advise greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rachael

Hi,

You shoud try:

pkgadd -R /home/ -d `pwd` NSCPcom

the -R option means:
-R root_path
Define the full path name of a directory to use as the root_path. All files, including package system information files, are relocated to a directory tree starting in the specified root_path.

Any questions tell me

Hi,

I have re-installed the OS and allocated spaces more appropriately this time. Thanks for your suggestion. I am sure will try it soon as I am still figuring out what other applications I need for this machine.

Thanks, will definitely let you know.
