IBM Script output in Email is not showing Colored headers

Hi All

I am working on AIX 7.1 and I am trying to show an output that I get from "cat" a log file to email. However in email I get the below output:

Code:
 [32m
=====================================
>>>>> Server Name, Date, UPtime <<<<<
=====================================
 [0m
Date :- Tue Aug 25 15:00:00 BST 2015

In the script I have defined the colors as:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "\033[32m
=====================================
>>>>> Server Name, Date, UPtime <<<<<
====================================="
echo "\033[0m"
echo "Date :- `date`"
echo " "

Below is the script I have created to send this output:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
/var/log/test > /var/log/test.log
cat /var/log/test.log | sendmail example@bob.com

I have checked numerous threads on this forum about making sure I have right html editor and making sure the variables are defined correctly.
I have ran several scripts to try and get this to work but I am prompted with the same output.

Can anyone help?

PS. I am new to scripting.

ANSI escape sequences won't highlight colors in anything that's not a terminal. You mentioned HTML, but I see no HTML in your code. It's not about using the right editor, it's about sending text like <font color="red">test</font> instead of ANSI escape sequences.

As an aside, you don't need 2 extra steps, a temporary file, and a cat to email that -- just /var/log/test | sendmail example@bob.com

As another aside, you should never name a command test, there is a real command named test already.

As an aside to the aside, you shouldn't place commands inside /var/log.

Thanks Corona688.

All points have been noted and changed.

The HTML code, is what I am not sure on how to put into my script.

I am adding as below:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "Subject: Subject"
echo "FROM: example@bob.com"
echo "To: example1@bob.com"
echo "Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii"
echo "<html>"
echo "<body>"
echo "<font color=blue>"
echo "<b>
=====================================
>>>>> Server Name, Date, UPtime <<<<<
====================================="
echo "</b>"
echo "</font>"
echo "</body>"
echo "</html>"

But this does not work.

In what way does it "not work"?

What happens?

The exact output is shown on screen when I run the script and I recieve no email of the output. 😔

You have not redirected it into sendmail, then. Try the code I suggested.
