Are you running bind for DNS?

Your named.conf file should tell you were the database files are located.

If your DNS is all static (Solaris tended to not promote dynamically managed zones), then you can add an entry to the db file and increment the serial number for the zone soa and reload it.

See: Chapter 29 Administering DNS (Solaris Naming Administration Guide)

Thanks for your reply

Yes I'm running BIND, i have located the db file, but not sure if just changing the ip in the db file and SOA increment will suffice?

how do i restart BIND?

Thanks

To Add more i commented out the existing entry for the zone i am updating the IP in, added a new line with new ip address, updated the SOA, restarted bind using below commands but when i do nslookup it still shows the old ip address.

bind restart

# svcadm disable /network/dns/server
#
# svcadm enable /network/dns/server

You may have to clear your name service cache. See nscd(1) man page.
