UNIX Folder Recovery

I had a data folder in MySQL that has simply disappeared. Something about a compromised server and MySQL crashing. This happened a few days ago. Although there has been one reboot, nothing new has been written to the server, so I'm thinking in theory it might still be there.

Has anyone had any luck with recovering this kind of data? We're talking about around 100MB and a specific folder name and location.

If you have any suggestions on how to do this or people that could help (who aren't cost prohibitive), I'd appreciate it.

Note that this is a continuation of an issue started here: MySQL Database Missing on UNIX server. Possible to recover?

There is no easy way to recover data from directories or regular files that have been removed by accident, by hardware malfunction, or by power failure. Once a file is unlinked, any data added to or changed in any file on that filesystem may overwrite the blocks that were freed by the unlink operations.
