Creating mountpoint in Linux from rawdevices without lv's
Hello,

I need to create mountpoint in linux from rawdevices without using lv's.

Please help me with the steps to do this.

Raw device has a filesystem? If so, then you should just be able to mount /dev/sda (for example). If there is no filesystem, there's nothing to mount really. You can treat it like a "stream" though (for example, like tape). Usually, you'll want to put a filesystem on it... but sure, you can do that without a partition. I suppose I'm trying to guess at what you are actually wanting (?)

Can you share with us the output from fdisk -l so we can see what disks/slices you already have. If you could indicate which you think you want to use then we can talk about the process to format it to give you a filesystem.

It would be useful to know your OS version and level. The output from uname -a should be enough.

Is there a way to identify a directory as the start of an NFS mountpoint in HPUX 11.0? Using existing utilities & without root priv.
