You can 'grep -n <each_file>' out the line numbers into "while read n l" and use another tool like 'sed' to display each with context and then print a divider. Handling of adjacent lines and BOF/EOF is a small challenge.

Yet another way is using diff's context option:

Does anyone know what the double dashes in the following grep line mean? grep -c -- "->" The intent of the line is to have a long listing of a directory piped to it, and for it to count off the symbolic links based on the "->" characters.
