Hi All,

I am having 5+ years total unix admin exp in india (5years solarisadminand 2+ years on linuxadmin). Please advice me which technology I need to learn for my career growth and salary growth.

Is it good to go for EMC SAN storage or vmware for higher packages.

Pretty hard to give a direction when you've not really outlined what work you've done in at least some detail.

Oracle

Swathe thanks for reply.I am working as server admin on solaris/Linux.Like server upgrade by applying patches and veritas volume manager and veritas cluster issues trouble shooting(performnce/filesystem/hardware replacements).I worked on incidents and changes and providing RCA to customers entirely OS dependent and multiple hardware SPARC platfroms(M-series and T-series).And also on virtualization (zones/ldoms/linux vmware).

Please now advice me the next move is it EMC SAN storage or vmware or any other cloud technology for my career/salary growth.

Sorry for the brief description about my work. Thanks in advance.

If you're already a Solaris/Unix admin then both SAN and virtualisation would be a great addition. Yes, EMC is a prominent player in the SAN arena.

I uploaded an EMC Solaris Connectivity manual to this forum some time ago. It's priceless as a reference document.

(We all acknowledge EMC's Copyright for this document).

Download your copy here:
Iscsiadm issue

It's an attachment on one of my posts.

Good Luck.
