Editing files

This is a smallpart of my input file.I want to change the ID values of entries having CMW as an entry.

Code:
Cont_1.266 . CMW 2958 3269 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=6
Cont_1.266 . CMW 3394 3505 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=5
Cont_1.266 . teef 3394 3505 . - . NAME=UM06506.5;PARENT=t:UM06506T0;constitutive=1;ensembl_end_phase=0;ensembl_phase=2;rank=5
Cont_1.266 . CMW 3532 3713 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=4
Cont_1.266 . teef 3532 3713 . - . NAME=UM06506.4;PARENT=t:UM06506T0;constitutive=1;ensembl_end_phase=2;ensembl_phase=0;rank=4
Cont_1.266 . CMW 3743 4624 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=3
Cont_1.266 . teef 3743 4624 . - . NAME=UM06506.3;PARENT=t:UM06506T0;constitutive=1;ensembl_end_phase=0;ensembl_phase=0;rank=3
Cont_1.266 . CMW 4659 5123 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=2
Cont_1.266 . teef 4659 5123 . - . NAME=UM06506.2;PARENT=t:UM06506T0;constitutive=1;ensembl_end_phase=0;ensembl_phase=0;rank=2
Cont_1.266 . CMW 5151 6146 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=1

So for this eg I want to change ID value to include the rank value
Here it is 6.

Input
Code:
Cont_1.266 . CMW 2958 3269 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0;rank=6

Output
Code:
Cont_1.266 . CMW 2958 3269 . - 0 PARENT=t:UM06506T0;ID=UM06506P0.6;rank=6

So I want all the ID values of CMW entries to include the rank values.

Is it possible to do with awk/sed?
I tried manually but its too many entries.

Maybe one of:

Code:
perl -wlpe '/CMW/ and s/(ID=\w+)(;rank=)(\d)/$1\.$3$2$3/' filename

Code:
perl -wlpe '/CMW/ and ($r) = $_=~ /(\d)\s?$/ and s/(ID=\w+)/$1\.$r/' filename

Try
Code:
sed '/CMW/ s/\(ID.[^;]*\)\(;rank=\)\(.[^ ]*\)/\1.\3\2\3/' file

Or try
Code:
sed '/CMW/s/;rank=\([^ ]*\)/.\1&/' file
