What Unix version is it?

Did you personally install the FileZilla client?

Are you absolutely sure that there is no ftp password required?
(The ftp server is asking for one!!!)

FileZilla can cache (store) ftp passwords. There are password recovery tools for this.

If you use ftp manually (not through script), can you connect without a password?

Okay, so when run from the command line it does not ask for password.

Are you running /usr/bin/ftp from the command line? (same as script? or are there multiple ftp clients on your system?)
Are you using the same switches -in ? (same as script?)
