Hi Ravinder.

I used the following input file, I have repeated Groups 10 and 4 with different values from the first entry. So these two groups should be reported as missing.
Code:

ID10009 GROUP-00001 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00002 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00003 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00004 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00005 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00006 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00007 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00008 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00009 AG
ID10009 GROUP-00010 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00010 AG
ID10009 GROUP-00004 AG

What I am getting in the output is Group 10 missing (correct) and Group 1 missing (incorrect).

Code:

ID10009 GROUP-00003 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00004 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00005 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00006 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00007 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00008 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00009 AG
ID10009 GROUP-00010 missing
ID10009 GROUP-00001 missing
ID10009 GROUP-00002 GG

It should be

Code:

ID10009 GROUP-00003 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00001 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00005 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00006 GG
ID10009 GROUP-00007 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00008 AA
ID10009 GROUP-00009 AG
ID10009 GROUP-00010 missing
ID10009 GROUP-00004 missing
ID10009 GROUP-00002 GG

Hello Senhia83,

Thank you for letting me know the same, following may help in same.
Lets say file is as follows.
Code:
cat test5
name1 group1 value1
name2 group1 value1
name1 group2 value1
name2 group2 value2
name3 group2 value1

Then code is as follows with a minor change.
Code:
awk 'NR==1{
X=$2;S[$2]=$0;Y=$3;
}
        {if( X != $2 )
                {if(!S[$2])
                        {S[$2]=$0;}
                }
        }
{if( X == $2)
        {if( Y != $3 )
                {split(S[$2],D," ");
                D[3]="missing";S[$2]=D[1] OFS D[2] OFS D[3];
                }
        }
}
{X=$2;Y=$3}
END{
{for(u in S){print S[u]}}
}' test5

Output will be as follows.
Code:
./group_test1.ksh
name1 group1 value1
name1 group2 missing
