Error executing the script

I have the following script test.sh owned by dwdev account and group dwdev, the permissions on the script are as follows.
Code:
-rw-r-x--- 1 dwdev dwdev 279 Sep 17 13:19 test.sh

Groups:
Code:
cat /etc/group | grep dwdev
dwdev:x:704:dwdev
dwgroup:x:725:dwdev
writers:x:726:dwdev

User:
Code:
cat /etc/passwd | grep dwdev
dwdev:x:704:704:DW Dev:/home/dwdev:/bin/bash

When i try to execute the script
Code:
 ./test.sh
-bash: ./test.sh: Permission denied

When the dwdev account is part of dwdev group and group has r-x permissions why my script is erroring out when i execute the script as dwdev application account?

Thank you.

Hello Ariean,

I can see there is no execute permission to owner which is your user in script. Please provide execute permission to script then you will be able to do so.

Code:
-rw-r-x--- 1 dwdev dwdev 279 Sep 17 13:19 test.sh

EDIT: You can use chmod +x script_name for same.

Thanks,
R. Singh

Yes, you are: if you are the owner then your own permissions override your groups permissions. In fact it makes no sense at all to revoke a right for the owner which the group possesses (or a right for the group which world possesses, for that matter).

I hope this helps.
