Hello to all,

i have a problem when trying to estabilish a sftp connection.

i setup a sftp server (i used feeFTPd) and i'm now trying to connect from two different machines.

from the first one everything is fine:

Code:
debug3: Not a RSA1 key file /home/user/.ssh/id_rsa.

Check that your SSH key file is actually correct.

ciao Carlo,

i renamed the files so that ssh won't try to use it (i'm trying to setup a password-based authentication), but the result it's the same:

Code:
[user@m1~]$ mv /home/user/.ssh/id_rsa /home/user/.ssh/id_rsaBAK
[user@m1~]$ mv /home/user/.ssh/id_dsa /home/user/.ssh/id_dsaBAK
[user@m1~]$ sftp -vvvvvvv user@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Yes but you are still in that same session where you used keys... come out and connect yourself again...And you need to remove bothe sides...

hello vbe,

i tried to logout and login again with no success (same result as before).

also i tried to run the command using the -o PubkeyAuthentication=no option as below

Code:
[user@m1 ~]$ sftp -vvv -o PubkeyAuthentication=no user@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx...
OpenSSH_5.3p1, OpenSSL 1.0.0-fips 29 Mar 2010

debug1: identity file /home/user/.ssh/id_rsa type 1
debug1: identity file /home/user/.ssh/id_dsa type 2
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer

but apparently this doesn't help neither Smilie

a point... xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx doesn't appear in the known_host file and i'm not promted to store the key. i would say that i'm facing a connectivity issue but apparently my client manages to estabilish the tcp connection

Code:
debug1: Connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] port 22.
debug1: Connection established.

thanks!

Host disallowed, maybe? Look in /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny on the target machine.

Old 06-28-2014
Unfortunately the target machine is running windows. I used freeftpd that implements the sftp on that platform. Smilie

Client hosts.allow/deny are clear.
