Syntax error in for loop

I am using simple for loop, but getting syntax error when I run the code

Code:
code

#!/bin/ksh
pls enter number
read n
for(i=1; i<=n; i++)
do
echo $i
done

Code:
syntax error

+ pls enter number
+ read n
3
loop.ksh[4]: syntax error at line 4 : `(' unexpected

# 2
Code:
echo pls enter number

Code:
for ((i=1; i<=n; i++))

# 3
Hi Scrutinizer,

I tried below still am getting same error

Code:
#!/bin/ksh
echo pls enter number
read n
for((i=1; i<=n; i++))
do
echo $i
done

# 4
Hi, there should be a space between for and (
# 5
yes I tried that as well still getting error message

Code:
#!/bin/ksh
echo pls enter number
read n
for ((i=1; i<=n; i++))
do
echo $i
done

# 6
Then you are probably using ksh 88. Try using:
Code:
i=1
while [ $i -le $n ]
do
  echo $i
  i=$((i+1))
done
