How to Find zipped logs?
from time to time, I received an alert, let's call it "alert_name"but in order to run the script that loads the missing data, I need to check firs if the logs have been zipped out, how can I do this? I Know:
1.- Name of the alert.
2.- Server where it runs.

That is truly Vague...
We dont know :
1.- OS and version
2.- Who runs the script
3.- Where it writes its logs
4.- etc..

1.- Linux 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5
2.- it is ran automaitcally by cron
3.- żI don't know? I want to find that?

The cron is run per user...
If you are root or can run sudo to be root, go and look at what is in /var/spool/cron/crontabs There you will find the crontab files running under the user's name.
Look at their content and see if you can find what you are searching for... else show us the content and we will search together...

Which user is the mail from? That might give you a clue. Some OS send the mail as the executing user, so you can narrow your search.

How can I tell if a file is zipped or not?

SunOS xxxxxx 5.10 Generic_142900-15 sun4v sparc SUNW,T5240 We receive files that are sometimes zipped, but the file may not have the .gz or other extention that would indicated that the file is zipped.
