SFTP in non-interactive mode without password

Hello all,
can we SFTP to the destination server in a non-interactive mode with out estbalishing the public key of origination server in the destination server? meaning i want to harcode the password as part of the below script or as an variable?
Please let me know if there is any better way to do it.

/usr/bin/sftp abc@abcxyz.com <<EOF >> /tmp/ftplog
cd /var/tmp/PROD_DEPLOY
get *.xml

Connecting to abcxyz.com...

Thank you.

I did found out something online.

set xfer:log yes
set xfer:eta-period 5
set xfer:rate-period 20
set net:reconnect-interval-base 5
set net:max-retries 2
set cmd:trace yes
set cmd:verbose yes
set ftp:list-options ""
lcd "/var/tmp"
open -u abc,abcpass sftp://abcxyz.com
cd /var/tmp/PROD_DEPLOY
put test.xml

I put the above content in a file and doing

lftp -f scriptfile

But for some reason its not logging anything if it is not able to connect to destination server or timed out stuff like that proper error log messages. There is no log file created in ~/.lftp. How can i achive this?

Thank you.

+ open sftp://abcxyz.com
+ user abc abcpass
+ lcd /var/sftp/home/archive/
+ put test.xml.gpg
614 bytes transferred in 9 seconds (67b/s)
+ mv test.xml.gpg TEST.xml.gpg
rename successful
+ bye

but when i try to redirect the output to the log like below it is erroring out, please help

lftp<<END_SCRIPT >> /var/log
open sftp://$HOST
lcd /tmp
put test.xml.gpg

I am using expect function for doing this.. below is the script i am using.
spawn sftp <userid>@<ftpServerName>
expect "password:"
send "<password>\n";
expect "sftp>"
send "cd /home/xyz\n"
expect "sftp>"
send "lcd /ftp_data/xyz\n"
send "mget *\n"
expect "sftp>"
send "exit \n"

expect function included in tcl package or you can download it from any open source website.

Using expect to kludge passwords into ssl is a really bad idea. It is intentionally difficult to put passwords automatically into ssl. If you want it to be automatic, use shared keys.
