Please let me know if there is any better way to do it.

I did found out something online.

Code:
set xfer:log yes
set xfer:eta-period 5
set xfer:rate-period 20
set net:reconnect-interval-base 5
set net:max-retries 2
set cmd:trace yes
set cmd:verbose yes
set ftp:list-options ""
lcd "/var/tmp"
open -u abc,abcpass sftp://abcxyz.com
cd /var/tmp/PROD_DEPLOY
put test.xml
quit

I put the above content in a file and doing

Code:
lftp -f scriptfile

But for some reason its not logging anything if it is not able to connect to destination server or timed out stuff like that proper error log messages. There is no log file created in ~/.lftp. How can i achive this?

Thank you.

I am using expect function for doing this.. below is the script i am using.
Code:
#!/usr/bin/expect
spawn sftp <userid>@<ftpServerName>
expect "password:"
send "<password>\n";
expect "sftp>"
send "cd /home/xyz\n"
expect "sftp>"
send "lcd /ftp_data/xyz\n"
send "mget *\n"
expect "sftp>"
send "exit \n"
interact

expect function included in tcl package or you can download it from any open source website.

Using expect to kludge passwords into ssl is a really bad idea. It is intentionally difficult to put passwords automatically into ssl. If you want it to be automatic, use shared keys.
