Email formatting gets disturbed because of screen resolution

Hi friends,

I have written a shell script which send a report to email address everyday.
The report is generated on UNIX server every day, Generated report is sent to 25 users through cron.
All 25 users have set different screen resolution for their monitor. The email looks wel formatted for the screen resolution on 1280x1024.
But some of users have different screen resolution set for their monitors, so the report sent to them is not wel formatted. some of columns get disturbed for them.
I use following command

Code:
cat report.txt | mailx -s "report for today" <list of 25 email IDs>

Is there any command which will send the same report to all users irrespective of their monitor's screen resolution ?

the formatting has nothing to do with the mailer or mailx, you catenate a .txt file... if there is something that is unsuitable its the formatting of your input file you need to correct, or else you will have to customise the email client to suit the monitor...

can you give a sample view with rows and column for report.txt ?

Hi Nakul,
I want to show a fıle example abot non-printable chars , like @vbe already mentioned unsuitable its the formatting

file view
Code:
# cat file
------------------------------|------------------|
Parameter_Name |Status |
------------------------------|------------------|
Banking |Ok
Finanace |50% hike
Loan_Deprtment |ok
HR_Group |Defaulte

mail view (file view and below view is different because mailer client interpretates the input for view)
Code:
------------------------------|------------------|
Parameter_Name |Status |
------------------------------|------------------|
Banking |Ok
Finanace |50% hike
Loan_Deprtment |ok
HR_Group |Defaulters

non printable view
Code:
# cat -vte file
------------------------------|------------------|$
Parameter_Name |Status | $
------------------------------|------------------| $
Banking ^I^I |Ok $
Finanace |50% hike $
Loan_Deprtment |ok $
HR_Group |Defaulters$

so maybe your report.txt has some nonprintable characters.
check your report file for this and define a standart writing.
if everything is ok then may check your e-mailer client software settings (like encoding->smaller/larger)

regards
