Here the $ is for the opposite of ^ when using grep :
^ is for first char of the line
$ is for last char of the line...

$winfilename=info.txt
$file_name=myfile_goodfile_sec_20140324_c.doc and extra $ as you suggested
grep as it is and i added -w option to test if it works.
