File into an array
hi all ,
thanks for seeing , please help me out with problem
i want to store contents of file into an array
for ex: i have csv file, contents as
Code:
mad,duck,male,half
red,ginger,new

i want to store them in an array like
Code:
array[0] = mad
array[1]=duck
.
.
array[4]=red
array[5]=ginger
.

my code is

while read -d $"," var
do
     read -d ',' -a array <<< "$var"
echo ${array[0]};
done<csv

my output is
Code:
mad
duck
male
half

i am not getting how to read the next line contents

a part , i have to read and compare with another file and remove those words and calculate their frequencies and should be able to find the top n frequent words
