Debian Debian 6.06 No Common CD-Rom Detected

Hello everyone,
I need immediate help with installation of Debian Squeeze 6.06 amd64. I am getting the error "No common CD Rom Detected" and I am installing from a DVD drive. I did some research and found out that you need kernel version 2.6.1.8 for newer hardware. But the problem is that kernel version 2.6.1.8 is not available for Debian Squeeze 6.06.

Can someone help me with this problem ? I have no option left other than to download Wheezy. Smilie

Can I install the drivers in the install phase itself via the shell ?

PC Specs are-:
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte H77M-D3H
  • BIOS version: 2.7
  • OS: Windows 8.1 x64
  • Bootmode: UEFI
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR3
  • 1 DVD R/RW Drive

sreyan32,

dont make it to complex for you to install debian. There are a lot of ways to install debian other than DVD alone. you can also install via the USB via debian netinstall. then once install. you can update your kernel to the latest from kernel.org.

you can use pendrivelinux.org for more information.

I cannot netinstall since my ISP requires me to authenticate from a HTML page before I can surf the net. Can please you please explain how installing from a pendrive will solve my problems ?

sreyan32 ,

There is a settings in netinstall to specify proxy when connecting to net to get repo and packages. . I think when you specify the Repo site it will ask you for http url together with Proxy ( id you're going to use one)
