Execution of local commands for remote site.

Hi all,

I have a problem with ftp execution within unix environment.
I'd like to get files on remote and delete them later, but here is too crowd so I can accidentally delete some files. Can I delete only the files I can get to the local folder? I can ask this question with a different approach: Can I execute commands in a file on local site for remote site?

Not sure what you want...
If the question is : Can I have commands that are executed remotely in a shellscript running locally?
The answer is Yes...
If you are using ftp, so sure you still have all the r-commands available like remsh/rsh ...

Thanks for immediate reply. Of course I can execute local commands within ftp, but these works only for local site, my question is whether I can use this for remote site. For example, when I execute

ftp > !sh delfile.sh

Can I delete a1.txt on remote site?

sh > cat delfile.sh
delete a1.txt

Is it more clear?

I was talking of r-commands, since usually when you harden a box, you remove ftp and all r-commands leaving you with having to use ssh... (sftp...)
