Writing a script to take the average of two columns every 3 rows

I have a dataset with 120 columns. I would like to write a script, that takes the average of every two columns, starting from columns 2 and 3, and moving consecutively in frames of 3 columns, all the way until the last column.

The first column in the output file would be the averages of columns 2 and 3, the second column would be the averages of columns 5 and 6, the third column would be the average of 8 and 9.

Sample Input:
Code:
0 1 0.5 2 3 4 6 0 2
0 2 3 9 4 5 0.1 3 8

Output:
Code:
0.75 3.5 1
2.5 4.5 5.5

Thank you!

Try:
Code:
awk '{for (i=2;i<=NF;i+=3) printf ($i+$(i+1))/2" ";printf "\n"}' file
