Multiple if statements

exmaple:

file1 and file2 has 1 bit

Code:
if [ -s file1 ]
then
     exit
else
     send out email
fi
if [ -s fil2 ]
then
     exit
else
    send out email
fi

it exits the 1st if. did not continue with my 2nd if. thanks in advanced.

Hi,

You should try some thing like below.

Code:
if [[ -s file1 || -s file2 ]]
then
exit
else
send out email
fi

because in case 1st condition is true as per your code it will exit the script and second condition will not be checked at all. Hoipe this helps.

Thanks,
R. Singh

then i will run into another issue. if file1 exists, and greater than 0, and file2 exists, and 0 bit.

kindly let us know the exact requirement for same. As per your code only I have given the solution. Please be more specific in your requirement.

Thanks,

Of course it exits from the 1st if if file1 does not exist or has size 0. That it what you told it to do.

Maybe if you told us in English what you wanted the script to do, we could help you write a script that would do what you want. If we don't know what you're trying to do, looking at code that doesn't work doesn't help.

worked by removing exit:

Code:
if [ -s file1 ]
then
     echo "running..."
else
     send out email
fi
if [ -s fil2 ]
then
     echo "running..."
else
    send out email
fi

Hi lawsongeek...

But that was not your original requirement!

Is your code running in a loop and you wanted to 'break' from the loop?

To tell us you have got it working by switching from 'exit' to 'echo' is not even remotely
similar to your OP...
