$ tar tvf files.tar list the files in files.tar
| awk ' and pipe the output into an awk script...
$1~/x/ {execs++} for any line where field 1 (where fields are delineated by whitespace - this field is the file permissions) contains x, increment variable execs
$6~/\.sh$/ {scripts++} for any line where field 6 (the file name) ends in .sh, increment variable scripts
END {printf "Exes: %s, Scripts: %s\n", execs, scripts}' once all lines are processed, output the values of the 2 variables.
