Network Network Printer

Hello,

In our company hp network printer 4050n configured on windows nt 4.0. We can able to print from a windows 2000 professional and windows 95,98 machines. And we have redhat linux 6.2 server also. Is it possible to configure network printer to print from a linux server. Can i know the steps to configure.

Hi..
To share windows resources from unix environment as per my idea is concerned you have to use SAMBA..It is a freeware and u can download it frm www.samba.org......and to configure it u can get lots of documentation frm www.redhat.com

try using SWAT for SAMBA

There is a function SAMBA can perform called SWAT-- SAMBA Web Admin Tool. It provides a graphical way of working with SAMBA. Download it with SAMBA, and when you want to work with SAMBA, got to http://localhost:901 on your web browser, and it will allow you to configure your SAMBA server.

Isnt there a Jet Admin for Unix too .... which can be used to configure network printers ..

I'm not sure... I know that *linux* has a tool for configuring HP printers, but I don't know about *UNIX*. Keep in mind that linux and UNIX are two different OSes... I think that linux has good driver support for most HP printers... I'd upgrade to RH 7.1 for the best support.
