Best software to make schematic diagrams?

Hi all,

I am looking for the best software to make schematic diagrams availabe on linux or BSD.
Anyone with a suggestion?

Even if it is to let me know where I should have asked this question: Thanks for your input!

Take care,

Not sure if it still in development but I used to use this...

gplEDA: All things GPL and EDA

It is a complete electronics design centre...

Hope it helps...

EDIT:

This is the other version...

If you're comfortable with groff, nroff, or troff; many systems provide pic as a preprocessor to draw diagrams.

What sort of schematics? Circuit? Program? Mechanical? Architectural?

I am actually looking for relatively simple things.
Lines, arrows, boxes, circles, and text in between all that.
Something powerful and simple to use.

I'm using xmind for that purpose... It's a mindmapping software but it can be used for making simple diagrams also.

Download XMind - XMind: Professional & Powerful Mind Mapping Software
