Data URGENT: rsync question

Hi All

I am trying to rsync the directories between two servers. The source directory is huge (8 GB) and I have the need to take an offsite backup. The directory I am trying to rsync has 774 permissions and are owned by a user/ group. To startup I backed up the source directory and restored it on to the backup server. I want to run a cron now on the backup server in order to do the actual backups.

The problem is... when I run the rsync command, it tries to backup all the files. I have checked that the ownership and permissions are the same on both the machines.

Could there be some other issue that is causing this to start the enture backup again?

Please help... am in a fix.

Sincerely

Srini

rsync

I'm using rsync also.

The command I'm using is this
Code:
rsync -v -q -r -u --delete --force /dir /dir-copy

Can you try this and see if corrects your issue?
