how to copy files from local computer to server

hi,

im a newbie using unix. My local computer OS is Windows XP while server is
using Unix. May i know how to transfer file from local computer to server? i do not know the commands.

You can use ftp. You will require access to the unix server (a username and a password). Exact commands to use in ftp cannot be explained here - they will differ as per your requirements - you would be better off having someone show this to you first.

WinSCP is preferred over ftp assuming the server is running ssh. Search for it on google.

If you think of doing this once in a while, then ftp is great. But if you consider transferring files over more often, then ask your Unix Admin to configure SAMBA and then map yourself a drive on your Windows box.
