Nohup
Hi Every one , i wrote a script for nohpu ,which checks the service by using the port number and starts if it doesnt hear the port. It works good untill i colse the session. how to make it work even after closing the session .And aslo how to deamoize this script

netstat -ptlen | grep 10000
if [ $? -eq 0 ] ; then
  echo "Hive Thrift server is running"
 exit 0
 else
  echo "Hive Thrift server is down Trying to Bring up the service" | mail -s "ALERT" team@mydomain.com

As a general rule, if it takes a -service flag, it's independent of the shell it's running in, so nohup isn't required in your script, however when calling your script it might be worthwhile running it under nohup, perhaps with the outfile as /var/log/hive_restarter.log
ie

Hi Skrynesaver ,

we are trying to use cisco tidal (schedules jobs on a GUI) to run those scripts so i can not use comand line ( nohup hive_test.sh >/var/log/hive_restarter.log 2>&1) everything should be in the script as i have above
