Samba Mount

To acces my linux folders on windows I did samba setup on my linux machine and it shows no error on linux system.

But when I try to map the linux system on windows it shows error "Network location could not be reached."

I used the link http://microdevsys.com/wp/networking...using-samba/2/ to set up samba.

How to resolve this issue?

Can you reach the machine just via \\ipaddress in start->run ?

What version of Windows are you using?

If using Vista or newer, what's your network location set as? If it's set as 'public' rather than 'workplace', things like network sharing may be blocked.

Linux is SLES on my work system and Windows is 7 on my home system and both are connected using vpn on my home internet.
I will check regarding the network sharing.

That might have been good to know before...

I'm not sure a VPN is good enough. These are usually good for simple, host-to-host pure IP traffic, but SAMBA's a little more complicated than that.

Are they even on the same subnet?

Seems there is some issue in windows network configuration on my system as other window system is getting connected through vpn.
