VMware Solaris Guest - How do I boot from CD?
Hello,

I have a Solaris 10 x86 VM and I am trying to access the Solaris install menu.

I have the ISO set to connect on startup, and I can see that it is mounted in my system. But when I power on the VM, the GRUB menu comes up and I only have the option of booting Solaris.

Also I have tried the "
Code:
reboot -- cdrom

" command and I have the same result.

EDIT: I had to go into the BIOS and change the boot order to boot from cdrom before the disk. However, I don't know why "reboot -- cdrom" did not work... does anyone know? Perhaps that command is only for SPARC systems?

Yes, boot arguments need an OBP. Only shipped with SPARC systems.

on the VMware, edit this guess system. Make sure the CD is ON at the boot time, By default, it's off.
Also on the VMware, in the past I was using the CD. Now, I just download the ISO image and point that to boot from the ISO image.

Ah yes, I was also using an iso image, and setting it to on at boot time. The CD was mounting properly after the OS loaded, it's just that my boot order was screwed up. Thanks for the suggestion!
