VIM Editor - To disable the status on existing

When i exist the vim editor .. to gives '0' in the console... i think it is status of the exit..
How to disable that ...
# 2
Normally vim does not display any exit status message. It it just displaying a zero or something else with the zero?
# 3
vim gives an exit status stored in $? (almost always 0). But the zero is normally not displayed unless you say something like 'echo $?' command.

Would need more information to hazard a guess why 0 displayed at console.
# 4
after i exit a file with :wq ... it is leaving a terminal as below
0/home/emp002198
# 5
Can you run the following two commands and copy/paste their output?

Code:
echo $PS1
echo $PS2

# 6
The output of above command is

Code:
/home/emp002198> echo $PS1
$PWD>
/home/emp002198> echo $PS2
>
/home/emp002198>

# 7
Any chance the vim is called from within a script?

What does following say?
Code:
file -L `which vim`

--------------------

Did it previously work? If so, what might have changed?

--------------------

Maybe something to do with $TERM but does not seem that likely and is complex subject.
