Inappropriate ioctl for device

Hello,

I have a cron entry:

Code:
59 23 * * * . $HOME/.profile;mydate=`date '+%Y%m%d'`;mv filename filename_$mydate

Which works fine interactively, but gives me the following error when it runs in cron:

Your "cron" job on servername
Code:
. $HOME/.profile;mydate=`date '+

produced the following output:

Code:
stty: : Inappropriate ioctl for device

Anyone know what this error really means or better yet, how to correct it?

Thanks.

steelrose,

Please use the search facility of the forum.

If you havent used them yet, look at these
Inappropriate ioctl for device and yet another Inappropriate ioctl for device

I've looked at both of those before (and just now again to be sure). I understand that it is some sort of input looking for a terminal session, but I don't understand why it's treating the assignment as something needing a terminal.
